Although there are millions of pearls inside the shell under the ocean, their price is negligible. But once the pearls are brought out of the shell they are very precious. In the same way when ones hidden talent is brought out and showcased to the society, the person and his/her talent is respected and honored in the society. The column “Bhandary pearl in the shell” started in Bhandary varthe is to extract such talents of our Bhandary family and showcase their talent to Bhandary community people.

In this episode, we are happy to introduce a national level Chess player “Srujana Chandrasekhar Bhandary”, Who is the daughter of Mundadi Sri Chandrasekhar Bhandary and “Mrs. Revathi Chandrasekhar Bhandary” of Bantwal taluk. Srujana is studying 8th standard in SVS English medium school, Bantwal.
She started playing chess when she was five years old, till now she has participated in more than 70 competitions of taluk level, district level, division level and state level and has won more than 45 prizes.

“Her achievements and honors”

First place in District level chess competition for thirteen years old children.

First place in District level chess competition for Fourteen years old children.

First place in state level chess competition held in Mandya last year.

Ninth place in national level chess competition held in Kannur, Kerala.

Second place in district level chess competition held in Bantwal.

Third place in district level chess competition held in Mangalore.

Second place in chess competition which was held under the sponsorship of King’s Academy Mangalore Forum and Fiza Mall Mangalore.

Recognizing her achievement
She has been honored with a gold medal from her school And by Bantwal municipality with a cash prize.

She has the qualification to play in international level has been selected to represent Dakshina Kannada district for the state level chess competition this year in the age group of Fourteen years.
The trainers of Derrick Chess Training Institute in Mangalore “Mr.Derrick Pinto and Mr.Prasanna Rao” are her back bone for her achievement. And There is also a continuous support from her brother “Anish Charit Bhandary”, who is a national level chess player.
